Lewis Hamilton has officially embarked on his new chapter with Ferrari after arriving in Maranello to prepare for the F1 2025 season. The decision to join the legendary team, announced nearly a year ago, marks the end of his long and successful association with Mercedes and the beginning of an exciting new era for the seven-time world champion.

A Memorable First Day at Maranello

After a short winter break and celebrating his 40th birthday, Hamilton arrived at Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters on Monday morning. His arrival symbolized the start of a new chapter in his illustrious career while sparking fresh hopes for Ferrari after years of challenges.

Hamilton shared a heartfelt moment on Instagram, posting a photo of himself standing outside the historic office once used by Enzo Ferrari. Wearing a sharp suit, he wrote:

“There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever, and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days. I couldn’t be happier to realize this dream today. Today we start a new era in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together.”

Hamilton’s first day was packed with important activities, including simulator work and technical meetings with the Ferrari engineering team as he familiarized himself with his new environment.

Collaborating with a New Race Engineer

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari also comes with significant technical adjustments. Riccardo Adami, who previously worked with Carlos Sainz and Sebastian Vettel, will take on the role of Hamilton’s new race engineer. This means Hamilton’s long-time race engineer at Mercedes, Peter Bonnington, will not join him at Ferrari, as Bonnington transitions to a new role within the Brackley-based team.

Despite the change, Hamilton remains optimistic about working with Adami and adapting to the new setup, showing his determination to achieve success with Ferrari.

Pre-Season Testing Schedule

Following his initial day at Maranello, Hamilton is set to take to the track for the first time as a Ferrari driver later this week. He will test the F1-75 car from 2022 at Ferrari’s Fiorano circuit. This test, known as the “wake-up test,” is a Ferrari tradition held in January to help drivers and teams regain their rhythm ahead of the official winter preparations.

Hamilton’s schedule continues with a private test next week at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the venue for the Spanish Grand Prix. Ferrari is leaving no stone unturned to ensure Hamilton’s smooth integration into the team before the new season.

Ferrari’s 2025 Challenger: Project 677

Ferrari is also gearing up to unveil its new F1 car for the 2025 season, codenamed Project 677. The car will be officially revealed on February 19, just one day after F1’s first-ever collective season launch event in London, featuring all 10 teams.

Before the season begins, Ferrari and the rest of the grid will participate in a three-day pre-season test in Bahrain from February 26-28, ensuring everything is in place for the season opener. The Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne is set to kick off the season on March 16.
